Spoken Palabra CentroAmericana at May Day in Oakland

Updated: Jul 6, 2019

Teatro Project and collegiate organization C.A.F.E., Central Americans for Empowerment, teamed up to write, workshop, and perform a Spanglish spoken-word piece at the International Workers Day Rally held at Frank H. Ogawa Plaza in downtown Oakland.

The performance denounced US-backed systemic displacement and criminalization of Black and Indigenous peoples from Central America and echoed the on-going lucha of migrant and asylum-seekers at the US-Mexico border.
